The saints of Haymarket moved the Socialist International Congress in Paris in 1889 to pronounce May 1 as International Labor Day respecting the Haymarket saints. The Paris Congress in 1889 embraced a determination approaching "the specialists of the different nations" to sort out on May I, exhibits of the drudging masses to "request of the state experts the lawful diminishment of the working day to eight hours."
